Comite Juno Canada-Normandie

Si l'on sait qu'après le débarquement du 6 juin 1944, le front allié multinational s'est lancé dans la terrible bataille pour dégager l'Est de la Normandie, puis la Belgique et les Pays-Bas, on sait moins que ce front était composé de plusieurs nations incorporées à la 1ère Armée Canadienne, sous l'autorité du Général H.D.G. "Harry" Crerar. Soit une imposante force d'infanterie et de blindés, de près de 450 000 hommes et femmes, regroupant notamment des contingents canadiens, britanniques, belges, néerlandais, tchécoslovaques, polonais, américains et français.
Ainsi, à travers les communes, les campagnes et les régions côtières, on retrouvait des unités de nationalités différentes, parfois à peu de kilomètres les unes des autres. Pour rendre hommage à cette présence multinationale, le Comité Juno Canada Normandie a pris l'initiative de créer un panneau d'information " Voie du Souvenir de la 1ère Armée Canadienne".
Au cours de la bataille de Normandie, la 1è re armée canadienne a joué un rôle important, en libérant la côte de la manche, de Juno Beach jusqu’en Allemagne, en passant par la Belgique et les Pays-Bas.

Hoewel het algemeen bekend is dat na de landingen op 6 juni 1944 het multinationale geallieerde front begon aan de verschrikkelijke strijd om Oost-Normandië, daarna België en Nederland te ontruimen, is het minder bekend dat dit front bestond uit verschillende naties die waren opgenomen in het 1e Canadese Leger, onder het gezag van generaal H.D.G. "Harry" Crerar. Het was een indrukwekkende infanterie- en pantsermacht van bijna 450.000 mannen en vrouwen, waaronder Canadese, Britse, Belgische, Nederlandse, Tsjecho-Slowaakse, Poolse, Amerikaanse en Franse contingenten.
Overal in de steden, op het platteland en in de kustgebieden waren eenheden van verschillende nationaliteiten te vinden, soms slechts een paar kilometer van elkaar verwijderd. Als eerbetoon aan deze multinationale aanwezigheid heeft het "Comité Juno Canada Normandie" het initiatief genomen om een informatiepaneel te creëren met de titel "Herinneringsweg van het Canadese 1e Leger".
Tijdens de Slag om Normandië speelde het 1e Canadese Leger een belangrijke rol. Het bevrijdde de kust van het Kanaal van Juno Beach naar Duitsland, via België en Nederland.

While it is well known that after the landings on June 6 1944, the multinational Allied front embarked on the terrible battle to clear eastern Normandy, then Belgium and the Netherlands, it is less well known that this front was made up of several nations incorporated into the 1st Canadian Army, under the authority of General H.D.G. "Harry" Crerar. It was an impressive infantry and armoured force of almost 450,000 men and women, including Canadian, British, Belgian, Dutch, Czechoslovak, Polish, American and French contingents.
Throughout the towns, countryside and coastal regions, units of different nationalities were to be found, sometimes only a few kilometres apart. To pay tribute to this multinational presence, the Juno Canada Normandy Committee has taken the initiative of creating an information panel entitled " Voie du Souvenir de la 1ère Armée Canadienne" (Path of Remembrance of the 1st Canadian Army).
During the Battle of Normandy, the 1st Canadian Army played a major role liberating the Channel coast from Juno Beach to Germany, via Belgium and the Netherlands.
